The Quiet Inheritance

Dedicated to Respected Professor Naz

ia Hussain

There came a season

when silence settled at every threshold,

and hope, like the last leaves of winter,

let go without a sound.

The horizon folded into itself.

Even the smallest ember

forgot the memory of flame.

Then you arrived—

not bearing miracles,

nor announced by thunder,

but with the quiet certainty

of one who understands

that a steadfast voice

can alter the weather of a soul.

Dear Professor Nazia Hussain,

You never offered certainty.

You offered presence.

You listened so deeply

that forgotten strengths

returned speaking their own names.

From you I learned

that courage is never a sudden fire,

but a river—

patient enough

to persuade stone into grace.

You did not merely show me the way.

You taught me

to recognise light

before it became visible.

The true measure of your teaching

was never achievement,

but character—

the invisible architecture

upon which every lasting triumph is raised.

My mother entrusted me with life.

You entrusted that life

with purpose.

Now, when words find me,

they seek truth before applause.

When my hands are lifted,

they reach first toward service.

And when success arrives,

it removes its crown

before humility.

Whatever grace my journey gathers

will forever remember

its quiet beginning—

a kindness

that asked for nothing,

yet transformed everything.

You are not confined to memory,

nor contained by gratitude.

You remain,

like dawn waiting beyond the horizon—

unseen, unannounced,

yet faithfully giving morning

to every new beginning.@N@H
